A discussion group to provide a forum for critical debate about all aspects of Christianity

We are a group of about 15 people, mainly from local Methodist churches. Usually there are about 6-8 at each meeting which is small enough to allow everyone to contribute.

We meet on the second Thursday of the month at Ickenham Road Methodist Church in Ruislip and the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Manor Methodist Church at 8 p.m.

We welcome all who wish to share and promote an open Christian understanding.

The group is affiliated to Progressive Christian Network (Britain)

We tend to plan in the short term.

We have just finished  #SheToo, a seven-part podcast series exploring some of the texts that include violence against women in the Bible. These 'texts of terror' have, at times, been used to oppress women or have just been ignored. But what happens if we take a closer look?

Six theologians from both faith and non-faith backgrounds talked about their academic and personal approaches to these texts, and what they might have to say to 21st century readers. Can giving voice to these ancient victims open up the means whereby the stories of today’s victims can be heard and validated?

In July we look at a DVD series entitled 'Everything Must Change; Jesus, Global Crisis, and a Revolution of Hope'

Our world faces unprecedented challenges and crises, and the church will either be a part of the problem or a part of the solution. To be a part of the solution, followers of Christ must be ready for a bold new adventure of faith and action.

Expanding on his provocative book, Everything Must Change, the Everything Must Change DVD, by acclaimed author and emergent church leader Brian McLaren, shows how a fresh understanding of the message of Jesus brings healing and sanity to the three major societal and global crises of our time; a damage environment, a growing gap between rich and poor and growing threat of catastrophic war.

This DVD study will help participants discover what the life and teaching of Jesus has to say about the most critical global problems facing our world today.
